 What's New for the 2022 MAZDA CX-5?

For Troy’s drivers who have high expectations for their next small crossover SUV, the 2022 Mazda CX-5 requires a closer look. The Mazda CX-5’s second generation debuted in 2017 with brilliant updates from end to end. Since that time, Mazda has progressively improved the Mazda CX-5 with additional updates. For 2022, this small crossover shows off a revised trim lineup. From the base level up, the options are the S, the Select, the Preferred, the Carbon Edition, the Premium, the Premium Plus, the Turbo, and the Turbo Signature.

You will also notice that the 2022 Mazda CX-5 has subtle restyling across its front and rear. The black grille has a chrome accent bar lining its lower section on the nose. This bar widens as it reaches toward the double-elemental, angled headlights. The lower-front air vent is molded and has a downturned look for a sporty touch. At the rear, the lights have a half-oval shape. They are balanced by a molded spoiler and thick molding on the bumper.

The Mazda CX-5’s capabilities have also been elevated for the 2022 model year. Across all trim levels, the Mazda CX-5 is equipped with an all-wheel drive. The suspension system has also been upgraded. The two powertrains have been tweaked and have minor performance improvements. The 2.5-liter engine now produces 187 horsepower, and the turbocharged engine in the Turbo and Turbo Signature trim levels gives you 227 horsepower.

The features in the Mazda CX-5 are unchanged across the full trim lineup for 2022. Some of the equipment that is included in select or all trim levels include a push-button ignition, smart device app connectivity, a premium sound system, assistive driver’s aids, ambient interior lighting, a navigation system, a surround-view camera, leather material, heated front, and rear seats and other desired items.
