2020 MAZDA CX-30 vs 2020 Ford EcoSport

Serving Troy, MI

Built for urban families, the 2020 Mazda CX-30 and Ford EcoSport have five comfortable seats and lots of modern amenities. Equipped with exciting and efficient performance technology and a suite of active safety features, the Mazda CX-30 offers more power and security.

The 2020 Mazda CX-30 is propelled by a 2.5-liter Skyactiv®-G four-cylinder engine. Performance stats for this powertrain are 186 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, you won't get more than 166 hp and 149 lb-ft from the 2020 EcoSport's 2.0 L Ti-VCT engine. As expected, the much smaller 1.0 L EcoBoost engine is significantly weaker than the Mazda CX-30's engine. Additionally, the Mazda CX-30's all-wheel drive compensates for a loss of traction in some driving situations. With supplemental leverage from the Off-Road Traction Assist, this updated AWD system delivers best-in-class handling on unpaved trails. The EcoSport's Intelligent 4WD system isn't fully tuned for navigating off-road trails. However, this compact Ford crossover SUV is balanced by the Torque Vectoring Control on curves and corners.

While an eight-speaker sound system is standard, the 2020 Mazda CX-30 is available with a Bose 12-speaker premium audio system. Coming from the Centerpoint 2 series, this sound system is also boosted by the AudioPilot functionality. You won't find as many sophisticated features in the 2020 EcoSport's seven-speaker sound system. Both compact crossover SUVs entertain occupants with an array of digital channels on SiriusXM Satellite Radio. Personalized entertainment in both vehicles is also available on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Measuring 8.8 inches diagonally, the 2020 Mazda CX-30's screen is easier to see and use compared to the EcoSport's 8-inch touch screen. The Multifunction Commander Control also makes it easy to navigate the infotainment console inside this Mazda model. Additionally, you can look at the Active Driving Display that projects colored graphics on the windshield. Compatible with smartphones, the Mazda Connected Services are just as advanced as the mobile-friendly FordPass Connect suite.

Safety & Security

The active safety technology empowers you behind the wheel of the 2020 Mazda CX-30. With prompt assistance from the Mazda Radar Cruise Control, you won't panic when a car suddenly stops in front of you. The Smart Brake Support might help you avoid low-speed collisions with bicyclists or pedestrians. When you drive faster than 40 mph on the freeway, the Lane Departure Warning is ready to react to help avoid lane drift and potential side collisions. You'll also get the Driver Attention Alert inside this compact Mazda crossover SUV. The 2020 EcoSport isn't on par with the Mazda CX-30 in terms of driver-assist features.
